#64452 Download Artemis Aftermath!!

Posted by Artemis Knives on 03 April 2017 - 09:30 PM

"Artemis Aftermath" is an Enthusiast fan created version and is not supported by Free Reign Entertainment, Free Reign East LLC or Steam.

Over 2 million people played the original Aftermath when I was the Design Lead.  Since Free Reign shut the servers down I approached them and was given the opportunity to continue an independent enthusiast version of the game with two real life friends of mine - inspired by the community and run by the community.

If you don't have the game installed, you can download it here:

Full Client: (Fast)

Web Installer: (Slow)

That's the link!  Share it with your friends!

Artemis Aftermath servers had to use a new database thus we have no old account information.  It's a fresh start for everyone!  We will come up with a better name than Artemis Aftermath at some point!

You'll notice the game has changed a lot anyways so it's best that it's a new beginning!!!!   :)

#67171 5/6/17 Megapatch Notes

Posted by Artemis Knives on 06 May 2017 - 09:56 AM

Hello my friends,

First, I would like to thank you for all being so patient with us.  As you may or may not know, Aftermath is a hobby shared by myself and two friends dedicating our free time.  It's not our full time focus, we all have lives and jobs outside of Aftermath.  We believe however that with a steady bit of free time during the week and on the weekends we can slowly chip away at Aftermath and fashion it into something truly great.

Today's update has been in the works now for about 3 weeks and we think it's the first of many steps to make Aftermath an incredible game.

**Some items that use attachments may become corrupt with the patch, we'll be monitoring any items that are causing issues.  So far it seems that the MX-TAC is causing issues and we may need to delete them from your inventory in order to introduce the new proper version.  We'll see.  **

Here's what's new:

  • Anticheat has been deployed and will continue to be deployed throughout the next series of patches
  • Hardware bans have been deployed
  • IP bans have been deployed
  • New ban rules: Bans are permanent without appeal.

  • There is a new glowing 'Founders Axe' fireaxe to be found in the world
  • There are 3 new M16 Assault Rifles to be found in the world

  • Some weapons have received damage balance updates
  • Melee weapons that were facing the wrong direction have been corrected
  • Rifle ammunition damage has been normalized
  • Sniper recoil has been adjusted to be more forgiving

  • Your footsteps and other player footsteps have now been separated so that hearing other player footsteps is easier
  • Massive audio fixes for nearly every sound in the game, too many to list, ALL OF THEM have been fixed/updated in some way [need to do a complete ambient audio pass on the map now on one of my streams]
  • The LBZ now has a new firing sound

  • Magazine attachments have been normalized for all assault rifles to use Stanag 30, 45, 60 and Cmag
  • The LBZ can now use any Assault Rifle Scope Attachment
  • All Assault Rifles can use attachments now

  • Texture fix optimizations
  • Fixes to tree collision
  • Day & Night cycle has been redone from scratch, night is now significantly darker in prep for Night Vision
  • Food and water consumption rates have been normalized, one does not deplete faster than the other now.
  • You now regenerate health over time for being 50%+ food and 50%+ water at the same time
  • The Harvesting Axe recipe has been removed for now
  • Harvesting prompts have been removed from objects for now

  • Pistol spawns have been normalized and placed into their own unique pistol table that is shared in Tier 1 and Tier 2 weapon Spawns
  • Pistols can no longer spawn in Tier 3 and Tier 4 loot boxes
  • Liberation GD rewards have been normalized
  • Liberation item drops have been increased and pistols can no longer drop in mid and high tier liberations
  • Low tier liberations can now rarely drop tier 3 armor and tier 3 weapons

#66388 Server Maintenance

Posted by Artemis Knives on 21 April 2017 - 07:19 PM

**Edit 3 PM PST 4/22/17**  still broken.  taking them back down.

**Edit 12:30 PM PST 4/22/17**  Bringing servers back up.  Please report immediately if any of the prior issues are occuring.  Vault lag, disconnects, etc.

Gotta pull servers offline guys due to this disconnect bug, it sucks but I have no choice.

I do not know when we will have it resolved.  The game is unplayable right now until this is fixed.

This could take up to 24-48 hours to resolve.  There is a very complex problem happening that is causing this issue.

We will reimburse private rented server time and legendary accounts once this is resolved.

This all might be related to the same problem causing vault lag when moving objects.  We're not sure yet.

Please be patient!

#77201 Back From Vacation!

Posted by Artemis Knives on 25 September 2017 - 10:48 PM

Had my birthday vacation last week and now I'm back!  I turned 30!  Crazy.  I feel like maybe I'm an old man.

I'll probably post some more screenshots of the map.  Patchs has made some really cool use of the train station and railroad tracks by putting abandoned rail cars there to be looted (and much much more on the map, he's been kicking ass).  Looks very cool.

Just wanted to say hello.  Also there's a new badass forest that is pretty damn epic.  The new map has such a nice feel.  There's just so much we want to do.

I have updated this post a bit more since most of you saw it.  Below are the plans for Zone 1, Zone 2 & Zone 3.  PVP rules as well as loot quality is affected by which zone you are in.

Z1 = No PVP damage, no drop on death - Questing area + Gathering area + new player spawn area. Death Durability rules still applies.  Low risk, low reward.

Z2 = Full PVP damage, no drop on death - Reputation is 1x here (subject to change) Your first taste of the game and PVP, you may die to players, but will lose nothing.  Death Durability rules still applies.  Medium risk, medium reward.

Z3 = Full PVP damage, full drop on death - Reputation is 3x here.  (may change)  Item boxes contain the best drop rates in Z3. High risk, high reward.

There is only 1 safezone on the map (all players deploy from this safezone as well), and it can be accessed by any of the 21 locations that will bring you to the safezone (as long as you are not aggressor) (or death).  Aggressor cannot use radio interface and request transport back to safezone.

PVE servers will be removed as well as Legendary servers.  Legendary & regular users will play on the same servers with Legendary users getting perks I will explain later.  The goal is have all players under 1 ruleset and not fragment the community.  Paying for Legendary should feel worth it since Aftermath is a Free-To-Play game without feeling 'pay-to-win'.

Pinetop will also be removed.

#68168 Patch Notes 5-13-17

Posted by Artemis Knives on 13 May 2017 - 09:22 PM

Happy Saturday patch!

This patch focuses mostly on optimization and we hope you are getting even better frame rates than before!  There are also quite a few other fixes, particularly ones related to cosmetics.  Not too shabby for a couple dudes working on a game in their free time eh?   :)

I made a video about the patch notes if you want to watch that instead

  • Texture optimizations
  • Vertex count optimizations
  • Object billboard LOD optimizations
  • UI optimizations
  • Collision fixes
  • TPS model resolution fixes

  • More audio tweaks for sounds that were too loud / too quiet
  • Knives now make a swing sound.  It's still kind of weird.
  • Your own footsteps on metal were too quiet and have been increased by 15%

  • Exploits related to character cosmetics have been fixed
  • You can now unlock Cosmetic Flag shirts and unite as a nation

  • All characters have been reset to the default civilian "bambi" clothing
  • Default character cosmetics are now white as you represent a "bambi" civilian.  They are called "Fresh Meat"

  • Lawmen+ reputation can no longer safezone camp by avoiding becoming aggressor
  • Shooting at non-aggressor players from within the safezone will flag you as an aggressor meaning other players can kill you within the safezone without penalty as a deterrent for safezone camping
  • Here's a sneak peek of the new Lawman reputation outfit that will be implemented once we finish updating the reputation system [not yet ready]

  • Stuff & Things For Updates
  • Iguanas are pretty cool right.  Maybe a cool pet.

  • Some rogue player spawn points have been cleaned up around safezones and far edges of the map
  • Armor durability has been adjusted slightly
  • Weapon ammo display 0/1 bug has been fixed
  • Remade all the attachment loot tables from scratch so they will be more consistent
  • Tons of material fixes for buildings in all cities as well as houses.  This means walls were not identified as 'concrete' etc and thus were not making proper noises and impact markers.
  • Language fixes for a few items missing names or descriptions (there are still more that need them, if you want to contribute to an item description, post your names and descriptions on the forums)
  • Some crafting recipes have received balance updates to their material costs
  • Drop rates on tools and parts have been slightly increased
  • Drop rates on metal, glass and plastic have been slightly increased

  • Night Vision Armor has been added to the game.  Simply equip this special armor and press N to toggle Night Vision on and off
  • Night Vision Armor can be both looted or crafted if you are lucky enough to find the blueprint for it

  • Removing the trees, grass, rocks, campsite spawns and single safezone from the left side of the map would increase FPS for all players.  This area of the map is largely unused for now and we would like to repurpose it.  Please post your feedback regarding this in the General Discussion section of the forums
  • The area colored black would be inaccessible and potentially opened up at a later stage in the game as optimization permits
  • The orange and red represent a large cliff wall that is orange and red in color similar to Sedona
  • The blue represents a body of water that would run the entire length of the canyon wall
  • The water would be too deep to cross to the other side, despite the cliff face being too steep
  • The dark green area represents the forest that would line the entire river
  • The minimap would be updated to reflect this

  • All power shakes have been buffed to offer a fair amount of healing compared to their cooldown.  They also still restore a healthy amount of food and water making them great PVP meds

  • Generators now repair 250% faster than before making coordinating generator repairs a much easier task for newer players
  • Repairing a generator no longer causes your crosshair to swing around wildly

  • Some nice fluffy trees have been added to block line of sight in certain areas and give the city a better feel as it transitions to a 'greener future' and away from the desert
  • Many new accessible areas.  Zombies can also access these areas because they love you and want to eat you

  • The 5th story of the 5 story orange building is now completely sealed off making it a death trap if you get cornered

#62108 Aftermath Resurrection

Posted by Artemis Knives on 03 March 2017 - 02:15 AM

Heya everyone,

I'm very excited to tell you all this!  A programmer friend and myself have been negotiating the independent operation of Aftermath.  We are very close to signing the deal which would give us full control over Aftermath as well as guarantee that we can keep servers up for at least 1 year (hopefully a lot longer if you guys are playing!!!).

We are looking for 1-2 skilled artists to help us on the project and we will need YOUR support as a community to help advertise the game once we bring it back online to make sure servers remain populated.  I am confident there are a lot of players out there that really enjoyed Aftermath and we want to bring it back!

While we can't afford to have a large team working on it, maybe we can bring you a better Aftermath and give it some updates and love it deserves!  I hope to have more details for you soon!

Check http://www.willyousurvive.com for coming updates!  Tell your friends!

#76535 Some Teaser Screenshots

Posted by Artemis Knives on 14 August 2017 - 03:47 AM

Something to look at from the new map.  Relax with the maniac posts please.  We're trying to make a cool game, taking our time doing it and constantly re-evaluating the direction we want to take the game.  We don't care when you want the patch to come.  We are in no hurry.  It's ready when it's ready.  Unless the game is constantly crashing, there's no need to rush any large scale decisions.

#75746 Why Are You Guys Still Crying?

Posted by Artemis Knives on 20 July 2017 - 03:37 AM

Pretty much.  Servers are up, games working, all of the nastiest bugs that plagued the game and killed it while on steam have been fixed.  Seems legit to me.  Sure, we don't have a traffic funnel right now, but we don't want one.  It's not ready.  Aftermath had 2 million total players try it on Steam.  If we have 2 million players try it the next time we go on Steam... it will be huge.  I'm not really worried.

It's a lot better than an entire company running it into the ground that's for sure.   :)

I do worry about some of the forum users though.  If only I had enough money to afford therapy & general mental health upkeep for some of them.  Oh well.

#75569 Reminder About Aftermath

Posted by Artemis Knives on 17 July 2017 - 06:57 PM

I wanted to remind everyone that this is a project that is independently run by myself, Gr33n & Patches.  We work on it in our free time.  We do not have extremely large chunks of time to invest into it as it is a side indie project for hardcore Aftermath fans.

When in doubt, take a break if you're feeling burnt out.  We are working away at bringing you the new Arizona map, improved and better than ever.  So sit back, and relax.  The majority of the nasty bugs have been fixed over the last 3 months and we can finally focus on implementing some new stuff to Aftermath.  The goal is now to patch roughly once per month unless insane bugs arise which will give us proper time to test and work on things without feeling heavily rushed.

The next patch will be the updated map, as well as updated gameplay that comes with it.  It will change the way Aftermath is played.  Curious to see how you guys like it.

Better that servers are up than nothing am I right guys?

#71140 Workshop

Posted by Karti20 on 05 June 2017 - 10:12 PM

After last of Artemis streams, He mentioned that i am free to share some of the work i have been doing for Aftermath on the forums.

Soo here is a small part of something that i hope most of you gonna enjoy.

MX-LBZ overhaul

Just a total texture ovehaul for 1 of original Aftermath guns. At first my plan was to make a own texture variant of a MX-LBZ Kingslayer, since that one was normaly using same texture / materials as the STORMSLAYER variant, which was wrong... but after making 1 new texture set, that did not fit the rest, i decided to remade all of them

*note* there are no new skins for that gun, everything you see is something that is already in a game, we just remade whole texture side of the weapon

*note #2* i decided to not place screenshots of all of them, you will have to wait i guess ;)

Second, we need to check the players, We put a "rank system" I mean if u play and u are bad with others cuz trashing, trolling, tbaging etc we can put you a -1 u can be kick some days for each -1 ! at the score of -3 => BAN

Q : Why I need to take exaclty the same name than in AM

A : It's one of our rules ! If u don't respect that, u don't play with us. How can we make a whitelist if u use an others name than your IG nickname ?! We need to keep an eye on every players to FIGHT the "future" hackers/trollers/haters

The servers gonna be controled by a whitelist with inscription on the website.

Q : Who are the admins ?

A : Meidy, Nakal, SYLENCE and me have the powers to admin our servers

Q : How many servers ?

A : We tried with one 30slots and it was a successfull test ! So we're going to buy a server with 50/100 slots and keep the 30 slots for some events/tournaments

Q : I'm an ex hackers, Can I play please ?

A : Braaaaaaaaaaaaah => NOP

Q : Can we participate to your server ?

A : Yeah ofc ! Remember guys, the servers cost some moneys ! So any funds can be glad to receive ! If all of u give 1€, we can reach 80/100€ and buy 1-2 servers each months !

Q : I played with some hackers, Can I be banned ?

A : If you are a group playing with a cheater like looter/hackers duo or if you call a cheater or drop the server's password to a cheater, the whole group will be permanent ban

Q : Why can't we trash/troll/tbag ? LOL

A : Of course cuz these attitude bring hate/argue, and we want a fair community ! So if u die by someone, type NOTHING or type "GJ, GG, Nice, or what u want but not "GG ez, noobs, etc etc etc" !

In the futur ! : NOT NOW

Q : Why u are going to make a rules about to "be on TS"

A : Cuz like the whitelist system, we want to check who play with who and who are on the server ! Imagine if u play and u are instantly dead by a hacker, u can switch to my channel and tell me "hey THZ i'm dead by a strange guy, i have a proof right now check it soon ! Or "hey THZ i'm trash by this guy look" So it's more easy to switch channel than open your ts, write our IP, etc etc We're going to be faster than "Flash" with the proofs ! We check the proofs in 10min for eradicate the hackers/trasher/troller/tbagger

We're glad to tell you, we're the 4all !

We, Brazilians, on American servers, played with ping 180-220. In European it was spinning from 240-260 ping, but with previous updates managed ping 280-320 and our private server 230.
The Europeans delayed the global inventory, which did not happen in North America.
The American servers were always the most crowded.
Try improving the quality of European servers, add veteran server (20 hours) and leave other servers for everyone's access.
I want to go pvp!
